Good news and bad news, again........

Well the good news is the airbags on Ethan's car worked just as they were supposed to. The bad news is his car is totaled. The good news is he is fine, the bad news is he got a ticket for driving too fast. Kind of adds insult to injury when it was due to weather and school not being canceled.

We got upwards of 8" of snow yesterday and last night and all the schools in the area closed today....except ours! Ethan has an early class which meets at 8am due to school scheduling and has to drive to school as there is no bus service that early. He left early today and made it about 5 miles from home before losing control on a slick curve and getting sucked into the deep snow at the edge of the road. His tire tracks show he was pulled right off into the ditch and into a tree. It ripped the bumper off and smashed in the front right side. We have finally gotten all the places called; towing, insurance and junk yard. Bummer way to start a beautiful sunny day!

We had picked Ethan up shortly after the accident and after cleaning out his car he wanted to go on to school so we took him in. On the way back the police cars were there and we took care of the paperwork on the accident. After the officer was done with us he told us he had to go get Ethan's statement and give him the ticket so off he went to the high school. That should surprise Ethan when an officer shows up at his classroom door looking for him!

While Ethan was sitting and waiting for us he watched a two car accident happen about 500 yards in front of him. At least one of the drivers was another student on their way to school. Her car appears totaled also.

I best get busy now that Ken's done with the phone calls about the car and call the school and register my complaint for holding school in the first place and find out how they wish to handle getting Ethan to and from school for the rest of the school year!
