Mariah played an awesome basketball game tonight although they lost by three points. The consolation is her team is made up of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders (and have you seen how short Mariah is?!!!) and they played a 7th grade B team, so I really think they did terrific!
Our 7th and 8th grade team was doing amazing and it was a very exciting game with lots of turnovers, amazing shots, and fabulous team work....until it got down to 9 seconds left in the game. We lost the ball to the other team and one of our girls was headed down the court with one of the opposing teams girls and they collided and the girl from the other team fell and slid into the wall at the end of the court and was knocked out. She was out cold for about 3 minutes and the ambulance was called. The weather tonight is awful with slick roads and about 2-3 inches of new snow so the ambulance took longer to get here. It was really hard to sit and watch the poor girl not moving for so long. By the time the stretcher got there she was able to move and talk so that was a good sign.
It just brings back some pretty strong emotions since Dad's fall was just a week ago and his accident was very similar.
We are supposed to play this same team again tomorrow night at their school so we are making a huge Get Well card for the girl and hoping to get our whole school to sign it tomorrow.
